So I decided recently that I was going to have my students use laptops more and more in the classroom. I have had them using the laptops to do some research on animals that they need to write a project about. I have to say, I was very impressed! The could use the laptops to build their projects as well. The projects that I have gotten back are amazing. I am so proud of my kids that really took a risk on doing something in a new way and they really had a lot of fun. I am definitely going to get a few more of these projects in before the end of the year.
By the way check out these other blogs I have been following:

Nina,
ReplyDeleteI understand your "awe" with students and laptops. We received laptops in our Kindergarten classrooms this year and my students are just blooming! They are so eager to learn and wonderful examples of how we should act as risk-takers. They are excited, hopeful and anticipate the new knowledge. I set-up a station in my room with the laptops and each morning I write five names of students on my whiteboard. As they come in, they are so excited to check and see if their name is on the board. The students chosen can work on the laptops in place of their morning work..what a difference it makes with the environment/noise during announcements, attendance, etc.

Nina,
ReplyDeleteGreat job using laptops with your 3rd graders! The more you use the laptops, the easier it will get. If you think about it, not all of your students have computers at home. If they aren't using them in school, they don't use them at all. It is important to expose them to technology so that they don't fall behind in this "Digital Age"!

Nina,
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful experience for your students. Anytime students can get on the computers to work, they are intrigued, but using laptops is even more extraordinary for them. It is great that you are exposing them to this technology and I am glad to hear you are going to try to do it again before the end of the year. Congratulations!
Nina,
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear you are going outside of your comfort zone to use different technologies with your students. Keep being creative and innovative. Your students will love you for it:)
